Most legacy systems are not modernised because they are slow to maintain. They are modernised because they are a cybersecurity risk leadership can no longer accept. An unsupported framework receives no security patches: known vulnerabilities accumulate, dependency chains go unaudited, and the system that functions is also the system that is exposed. The question is not whether a vulnerability exists. It is whether you find it first.

Modernising your applications has always made operational sense. In 2026, it became a strategic imperative. According to Cloudflare's App Innovation Report, 93% of technology leaders say that updating their software is the single most important factor in boosting AI capabilities. Your legacy architecture is not just a maintenance burden — it is a ceiling on everything you want to do next.

.NET 8 reaches end of life in November 2026. .NET 10 LTS is already in preview. If your applications are running on older .NET versions, the window to migrate without disrupting operations is narrowing. Internal teams are too busy delivering features and supporting users to manage a migration in parallel. This is exactly the gap we fill.

Many organisations that adopted OutSystems in the 2010s are now facing contract renewals with significantly higher pricing. If you are approaching that decision, migration to .NET is a viable path — and one we have done before. We know both platforms from the inside.

We migrate applications from older .NET versions (.NET Framework, .NET 6) to current LTS releases (.NET 8, .NET 10). We modernise architecture — from monoliths to modular services where that makes sense — and introduce proper observability, logging, and automated deployment pipelines. No downtime. Phased rollout. Feature flags built in.

If you are moving off OutSystems, we can migrate your applications to custom .NET solutions. We have worked on both platforms and understand the functional translation — it is not just a technical migration, it is also a process and governance change. We plan it properly.

We migrate application infrastructure and e-commerce platforms to cloud environments, with a focus on scalability, performance, and cost control. We have done this with Azure (IaaS, Azure Search AI, Azure SQL) and AWS (CloudSearch).

We upgrade and replace legacy middleware — including BizTalk — with modern integration platforms. We migrate business processes, message schemas, and workflows with documented, validated go-lives.

For organisations that already have a working platform and need it to grow continuously — new business lines, new integrations, new market requirements — we embed our team in yours and evolve the platform in ongoing sprint cycles. This is how we have worked with Sonae for 18 years.
Sonae's Continente Online is one of Portugal's Top 10 most visited online stores and one of only four national platforms in the SIBS Market Report ranking. Create IT has been part of the Continente Online product team for many years, working across frontend, backend, search, integration, and operations. Today, more than 2,000 purchases are made on the platform daily, 600,000 customers are registered, and the platform receives more than 4.5 million visits annually.

A leading Portuguese retailer needed to move beyond Uber Eats and Glovo and own its instant delivery experience. We built a custom Q-commerce app using OutSystems and Azure (Azure Search AI, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), with full loyalty card integration, real-time order tracking, and dynamic delivery pricing. Today, Q-commerce accounts for 60% of the retailer's total online orders, across more than 250 locations.

A major retail group needed to modernise the Order Management System that underpins its entire e-commerce and retail operation. We migrated from legacy components to .NET 8, Docker, and RabbitMQ on Linux servers, replacing Workflow Foundation with a state machine architecture. We built an integration bridge between the old and new systems to test everything end-to-end before any cutover. Phased rollout with feature flags. No disruption to store or e-commerce operations.

UNICRE, Portugal's specialist in payment card management and consumer credit (brands: UNIBANCO and REDUNIQ), needed to migrate its BizTalk Server infrastructure from the 2006 to the 2016 edition. We managed the full migration: 44 business processes, 88 message schemas, 4 BizTalk applications, in 10 weeks with a joint team of 7 people. The solution has been running 24 hours a day, without a single reported occurrence, since April 2018.

The Pestana Group, one of Portugal's largest hospitality groups (90+ units across 15 countries, 3 million guests per year), needed its web and e-commerce infrastructure to support international growth. We migrated five portals to Microsoft Azure, integrating with Opera Reservation System, SAP, Microsoft CRM, and multiple payment and distribution channels. Page load times from markets such as Brazil were reduced to approximately half. Adding a new hotel to the platform went from a complex operation to a matter of days. This project was a finalist at the European Microsoft SharePoint Awards in the category of Most Innovative Cloud Solution.

We have delivered application modernisation projects across:
❯ Retail and e-commerce: Sonae (Continente, Worten), ongoing. Multiple platforms, integrations, and product teams.
❯ Financial services and payments: UNICRE (payment card infrastructure), BPI (home banking portal).
❯ Hospitality and tourism: Pestana Group (e-commerce and infrastructure), Hoti Hotéis (digital workplace and document management).
❯ Healthcare: Hospital da Luz / Luz Saúde (patient portal).
We do not claim expertise in every sector. We claim deep delivery experience in these ones.

This is a verified designation from Microsoft reflecting our capability to build and manage Azure-based applications. It is not a marketing badge. It requires demonstrated delivery.

The IT market in Portugal has very high team rotation. We have consistently maintained annual turnover below 5%. That means the engineers who start your project are the ones who are still there a year later. They know your system. They know your business. That continuity has real value.

Our longest current client relationship is 18 years. Our average relationship with embedded clients runs significantly longer than the industry norm for IT services. This is not accidental: it is the result of a model where knowledge transfer, team stability, and genuine involvement in client success are built into how we work.

Whether a project ends with a handover or continues as an embedded engagement, we document everything, train your team, and make sure the knowledge stays with you. The UNICRE project included full documentation and training so the client could achieve autonomy in the maintenance phase. That was stated as a goal from day one, and we delivered it.
Whether you are migrating from SharePoint on-premises, replacing a legacy intranet, or building a new collaboration platform, start with a conversation. We will tell you honestly what is involved and what to watch out for.
